Whose data do we process?
We process personal data about clients, counterparties and other third parties in connection with legal services; people who request or provide information to us; applicants for roles or work experience; people who interact with us through our website; alumni; and people who have consented to receive publications and marketing emails.
What information do we collect?
The types of data we process depend on the services we provide and may include identity and contact data; financial and payment data; business information; information relevant to our legal advice; profile and usage data; technical data such as IP address and browser details; physical access data relating to visits to our premises; and, where necessary for a matter, sensitive personal data (for example health, race or criminal history in housing or immigration cases) to help establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Every time you log on to our website your IP address registers on our servers. We do not use this technology to obtain personal data against your knowledge or free will, nor for any purpose other than to help us monitor traffic or, in the case of criminal activity or misuse, to cooperate with law enforcement.
Cookies

Emails that we send you have no tracking in them.
Why we use your information
We use your personal data to deliver legal services; verify identity and comply with legal and regulatory obligations (including anti-money laundering); administer accounts and collect debts; make disclosures to auditors, professional advisers, banks and insurers; run the firm (including recruitment); improve our services; respond to enquiries and complaints; exercise or defend legal rights; maintain business relationships; and, where permitted, send updates about our services.
Who we share data with
We may share personal data with law enforcement and regulators; third parties involved in your matter (professional advisers, courts, counterparties); financial organisations and tracing agencies; our auditors, advisers, banks and insurers; government agencies such as the Home Office in immigration matters; and service providers who process data on our behalf under contractual safeguards.
How long we keep your data
We retain information as long as necessary to comply with legal, accounting or regulatory requirements, to respond to questions or claims, and to show that we treated you fairly. When it is no longer necessary we delete or anonymise it. For more about retention periods, contact info@arkaslaw.co.uk.
Your rights
You have rights of access, rectification, erasure (in certain situations), restriction of processing, data portability, objection (including to direct marketing), and not to be subject to solely automated decisions that produce legal effects.
